Fledglings News December 2025
Christmas Closure dates 2025 & 2026 This year, we close on Tuesday 23rd December and re-open on Monday 5th January 2026.   Next year, we close on Tuesday 22nd December 2026 and re-open on Monday 4th January 2027.

Clothing, coats, hats & GLOVES! – Mittens are much easier for children to manage.  Please consider our sanity over the Christmas break and invest in those little clips to attach them to their coat or sew a piece of fabric through their coat to hang them (at least 20 children in little flyers, that can be 40 gloves/mittens in one room each day, IMAGINE!)… We will be sending home the children’s change of clothes bags.  Please ensure that they are checked and re-stocked with weather-appropriate NAMED spare clothing and all children come with an appropriate NAMED coat?  Many thanks! Oh, did we mention that you need to NAME their coats, shoes, gloves and hats?!

May we also remind you that children should be dressed in appropriate clothing for the nursery day?  Dressing up clothes should not be worn for the entire day as some of them are a trip hazard and are quite difficult for children to manage toileting and changing for P.E. etc.  We have plenty of dressing up clothes at nursery which we are happy to help children utilise at different times of the day.  Any children who arrive in dressing up clothes (if it is not a theme or party day) will be asked to change into clothes from their spares bag straight away.

Christmas party is Wednesday 17th December Invitations have been sent via Famly to all children in the LITTLE FLYERS room (was preschool) to invite them to the Christmas party.  Children who do not normally attend on a Wednesday will need to arrive at 1:55pm and need collecting at 4:05pm at the latest.  Children who usually attend on a Wednesday can get collected at their normal time. Featherlings children have had a rhythm time party and are having a Christmas baby sensory session too.

Your child’s last day before the Christmas break

Please confirm via Famly your child’s last day before the Christmas break and register their absence as holiday if you can, thank you! We wouldn’t want to miss giving them their bag of Christmas goodies!

Sessions Thank you to all our families who regularly recommend us to others and also who request places for younger siblings.  We are full and have been for quite some years..!  However, if you do require an extra ad-hoc day or a permanent extra or change of day, please feel free to message Jo/Jane on the Famly app and we will always do our best to accommodate your requests.  We usually look at new admissions quite far in advance, so if it is your intention to add/reduce/swap days from your current attendance at all in the future, please discuss with Jo at your earliest convenience.

OFSTED Statement – Understanding the Ofsted judgement

“Ofsted has updated its national inspection framework, meaning that settings are no longer graded with single overall judgement words such as ‘outstanding’.   The new system provides a more detailed and informative breakdown of quality.  We remain committed to the highest standards of care, education and safety for every child, every day.”   Fledglings are proud of our previous Ofsted ‘outstanding’ judgements and want to reassure families that our commitment to excellence remains the same.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our wonderful Fledglings Families a very Merry Christmas!
