January Newsletter & Disco

Happy New Year and welcome back to nursery! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas,

Thank-you all for the cards and gifts received by the staff, I hope that Santa was good to you too.

This term we will be exploring our nature garden to observe the changes that are taking place.  We are celebrating Chinese New Year and will be exploring the areas of learning in two weekly sessions using planned group work, individualised planning and following the children’s interests to develop skills and knowledge. Please see our planning and photographs on the Parents notice boards.

We will be holding a Family Disco on Saturday 13th February, please see overleaf.

We have a healthy eating policy at Fledglings, we would request that as per our brochure, parents whose children have a packed lunch provide a healthy packed lunch for their child.  Please do not send any packets of sweets or chocolate.  All children are offered a drink of milk or water with lunch, therefore, please do not send an additional drink.  A suitable sized lunch for a child of 3 or 4 years of age would be a small sandwich / pot of pasta, one piece of fruit and a yoghurt or piece of cheese.

Please will also ensure that you close the gate behind you when you enter or leave the path.

Once your child has been signed out we pass responsibility for their care over to you, please treat the corridor as an area where you need to closely supervise your children, as the door is being opened and closed by parents arriving children, children who are on their own at the end of the corridor could easily leave the premises without their parent/carer. When you are entering and leaving the premises please ensure that there are no other children near you who could leave at the same time, and please never let a child out without their parent being with them.

We have completed our termly assessments consequently there will some changes to children’s groups in room 2, I will be writing to the parents of the children concerned personally.

Invoices for sessional care will be issued this week, payment dates are detailed on the invoice.

We will be sending a letter to all our existing parents next week asking you to request your place for September 2016, please ensure that it is returned by the date stated.

If you have any queries or questions regarding any of the above, please feel free to contact me.

Best wishes,

Julie Longbottom

FAMILY DISCO

SATURDAY 13 FEBRUARY 10am-12noon, MOSS HEY SCHOOL HALL

This event is usually very popular with all the children and is a perfect opportunity for parents to meet up socially.  We have lots of fun, games and dancing at the disco.  The disco is a family event, and therefore it is necessary that a parent attends with their children.  Siblings up to the age of 8 are also welcome to attend, but will need a ticket.  Under 1s are free!  The £4 cost includes a drink and a hot dog, there will also be sweets and drinks on sale for the children and teas and coffees for the adults.  Please complete the slip below and return your request, together with the correct amount of CASH in a named envelope for the attention of the Parents Committee to the office at Fledglings by Tuesday 9 February.  There is a maximum number of people allowed in the hall due to fire regulations, so please get your request in early to avoid disappointment.  We will not be issuing a ticket, all requests are on a list and we will sign you in at Moss Hey front entrance.

We would be grateful for donations of home-made little cakes or cookies that we can sell on the morning of the disco.  Please complete the slip below if you are willing to bake us a dozen and bring them in either on the Friday or the morning of the disco J  Many thanks.  Please name any containers you wish to get back!!!  Thank you in anticipation of your help

We also need a small number of parent helpers on the morning of the disco, if you are able to share childcare with another parent and do an hour each or stay behind to help tidy up, this would be much appreciated.
