Fledglings November 22 Newsletter

Welcome to our Fledglings newsletter…we have some very exciting things planned in the upcoming weeks and lots of exciting news.

Fledgling’s superstars!

We were very surprised and over the moon that we won ‘Star Story’ in the Nursery World magazine! We hope to continue our visits to the residential home and introduce art and craft sessions in addition to music time with the residents and children.

Focus on language and literacy…

At Fledglings we are very passionate about our ethos and vision. We aim to create an outstanding environment for all our children ‘Where the love of learning grows.’ This is embedded in everything we do.

Currently we are particularity focusing on language development and supporting the children in enhancing communication in a variety of ways. The practitioners have also been looking at fun and effective approaches to support language development through play and learning. Please kindly refer to the attached information for your consideration which provides more information with regards to how you can support your child at home. P.S. Remember, to make the most of our ‘book swap’ located near the nursery entrance.

Winter Clothing

Now the winter days are on its way; please ensure your child is coming into nursery with appropriate clothing. Please ensure they bring in a named warm coat/ outdoor suit and hat and gloves for outdoor play. Thank you.

Please also ensure your child has spare clothes in their nursery bag, and extra sets if they are toilet training.

Famly

We have received a lot of positive feedback with regards to Famly. We love seeing home observations which contributes towards your child’s overall developmental journal. Please ensure you keep us updated if your contact details change and ensure that your details are accurate and UpToDate on the Famly app too- many thanks.

Stay and Play Dates

Following feedback from parents, we would like to invite the parents to ‘stay and play’ sessions with your child. These will be held 4-5pm on the following dates, for the rooms stated and will be added to the Famly calendar:

Friday 11th November 2022 (Nest / Playschool)

Wednesday 8th March 2023 (Nest / Playschool)

Tuesday 2nd May 2023 (Preschool)

Monday 12th June 2023 (Nest / Playschool)

Thursday 29th June 2023 (Preschool)

We hope that by doing them on different days of the week, all parents/ carers will be able to manage to come on one (or more!) of your child’s attendance days, however, if your child doesn’t attend on any of the days listed for stay and play for their room and you wish to join a different one for the same room, please send us a message and we will hopefully be able to arrange it.

Unfortunately due to space and numbers, it won’t be possible to invite you all in on the same day, or on a different day than your child usually attends (other than for those children stated above whose days are missed), as we have around 80 families

Communication

Just a little reminder regarding communication. If you are sending a message to your key person, please ensure you send the message to your child’s whole room, this ensures that a member of the team can respond accordingly if the key person is on holiday for instance. Alternatively, for an urgent response please send an email to admin@fledglingspreschool.co.uk or message on the nursery phone on 07860 812215 which is monitored throughout the day by the management team.

Car Park

Please remember NOT to park in the school carpark. Many thanks for your cooperation.

Staff updates

We are sad to see Sarah and Chelsea leave Fledglings. Both have been remarkable practitioners. We wish them both the very best in the future.

We would like to welcome Julie Stokes to the Fledglings family. Julie is a very experienced and qualified early years practitioner (BA Hons Childhood Studies). Julie has many year’s experience in early years management and teaching. She is really enjoying her role and introducing many innovative ideas and activities to support the children and looks forward to meeting the parents.

Parent training

The local authority are providing a range of training opportunities for parents. We will keep you posted on Facebook and Famly.

Christmas Festivities

We are super exciting about Christmas! The year has flown and we can’t quite believe its December soon! We are currently organising our festive calendar and will send the updates very soon…we can promise you that all the children (and teachers) will have a fabulous time!

Closure Dates:  Nursery will close on Thursday 22nd December at 6pm and reopen Wednesday 4th January 23 at 7.45am.

Preschool updates

(This is just for the children who are going to school next September)

Preschool pantomime and performace.

We are pleased to state that we have booked the Christmas pantomime – Cinderella at The Plaza in Stockport on Tuesday 13th December at 2.00pm. Children who do not normally attend nursery on Tuesdays must be at Fledglings by 12.30pm. The coach has been booked to leave nursery at 1pm and leave the Plaza at 4:45pm.

We have also set a date for our PRESCHOOL Christmas Performance. It will be on Monday 12th December at 9:30am. in Moss Hey School Hall.

Even if it is not your child’s day at nursery on a Monday, you are invited to bring them at 9:00 to our usual entrance so they can get into their costume, you can then go and take a seat in the hall ready for their performance at 9:30am and help yourself to a mince pie. Of course, if it is your child’s usual day of attendance, then you can bring them at their normal time, but ideally we would like all children to arrive no later than 9:00/9:05 so that we can get them ready. If you have older children to get to other schools and can get here for 9:05/9:10… then we are sure that will be absolutely fine.

We limit ‘tickets’ to just two per family, to enable both parents to attend, it is not possible to request any extras, as the performance can be a little overwhelming for some children, so we like to keep the ‘audience’ as small as we can. We won’t be sending actual tickets, alternatively, we sign you in when you come into the hall.

We will be trying on the children’s costumes probably in November, so they will be able to tell you what they are going to be dressed as :)

We are sure you will thoroughly enjoy it. Any queries, feel free to send us a message either on Famly or email to admin@fledglingspreschool.co.uk or Whatsapp the nursery mobile.

Pick up reminder

If there is a queue of more than a couple of parents waiting, please send us a text/WhatsApp to 07860 812215 to let us know you have arrived for your child and we can hopefully get them ready to go straight away. All information regarding children’s sleeps, meals etc is on Famly, so this will speed up collection and if there’s anything else you wish to discuss in depth, you can always arrange to come in and speak to a Manager/Practitioner.

We hope this helps when you have younger or older children to not have them standing in a queue!

Variety of cuisine

Following feedback from some parents, we have been working on and have revised the children’s menus to a two-week rolling menu with a little more variety of dishes over the two weeks. This new menu and list of allergens is on display on our outdoor notice board.

Our policy of the term this month is ‘Healthy Eating Policy’ please do not hesitate to request a copy and ask any questions.

Trips into the community

Finally, the children have really enjoyed trips into the community. What fabulous learning experiences…plus who doesn’t love a Costa treat! We hope you enjoy looking through the photographs. Please remember to follow us on Facebook by searching ‘Fledglings Preschool Bramhall.’

Best wishes,

Mrs Bhav & The Fledglings Team x
