Welcome to our Fledglings Summer Newsletter.

Over the past few months we have been extremely busy at Fledglings. We have celebrated lots of events and festivals which have been super fun for all the children to take part in and experience.

We have recently welcomed new children here at Fledglings…we would like to welcome you all to our nursery and hope you are enjoying being part of our Fledglings family.

We are so pleased that Kim has commenced music sessions once again! The children have really really enjoyed the sessions. Kim really is a talented music teacher and we are thrilled to have her back.

Physical Education with Leanne (Fledglings Sports Coach)

We are privileged at Fledglings to have such a super Sports Coach! Leanne conducts and plans brilliant activities with the children to support their health and wellbeing. This includes healthy eating activities, yoga, mindfulness, tennis sessions and fine & gross motor skills development. The children have currently been learning how to hold a hockey stick and a tennis racket.

We are looking forward to a fun Wimbledon inspired day! The children are more than welcome to wear their tennis gear or dress in white! (Please be warned that upon collection their clothes may have changed colour!)

Time to say goodbye…………………

It’s that time of year again when our pre-school children are starting to leave Fledglings for pastures new……We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our pre-school parents for choosing Fledglings as their Early Years provider. It really has been a pleasure to care for your children during the time they have been with us- we really really are going to miss you all!

We will be holding our very exciting graduation party on Monday 4th July at “Sea Life Centre” which will hope will be a fun filled event for everyone! Jo has kindly sent all the leavers parents an email with regards to this event.

Classroom news

The Nest:

Baby room have been having lots of fun exploring sensory play, this includes water play, sand play and foam play. The babies particularly love shredded paper play. We have most certainly enjoyed playing in our beautiful nursery garden in the glorious sunshine.

The Nest have really been interested in animals. The practitioners have introduced zoo and farm animals and the babies have been trying super hard to pronounce initial sounds and words.

The Nest have been demonstrating fabulous counting skills. They have been attempting to build towers and then knock them over and start again…what great determination.

Play School:

The ‘Take me home bear’ has been going really well in Playschool and the practitioners thank the parents for their contribution.

Play School are really interested in insects and minibeasts! We have found so many worms and creepy crawlies under the logs in our Fledgling’s garden! We even have our own little caterpillars….soon they will turn into butterflies and we cannot wait to see how beautiful they are!

In the upcoming weeks we hope to create our very own gigantic minibeast….Please can we request all the parents and children to bring in as much junk modelling as they can!! Thank you!

Play school have really loved sensory play dough and mark making. This activity encourages many skills such as fine and gross motor development.

Preschool:

Preschool have planted fabulous vegetables in the garden which have been growing very well. The children are very proud…we cannot wait to taste what we have grown!

The children have also been enjoying a new concept which has recently been introduced called ‘Beat Baby’. This supports the children in learning core skills through fun beat based activities which will help children with their phonics awareness.

The children have been particularly interested in building a variety of models using construction toys and ‘loose parts’ resources. To extend this interest, we now have a fabulous construction area in our role play!

Mathematical development has been superb! The children have been applying their counting skills to everyday scenarios and problem. They have really enjoyed looking for 2D and 3D shapes in the classroom and the location of numbers on a number line.

School transition

The teachers from local schools have commenced their visits to see the children at nursery…we will keep you posted with any feedback!

Teaching time with Bhav:

The children have been doing ever so well during the focus teaching time sessions and we are incredibly proud of their achievements so far. The children really do demonstrate such a passion for learning! They are motivated, eager and look forward to a challenge….all the skills required to thrive at school! What super super work Fledglings Preschool!

During the last few weeks of focus teaching time, we will be recapping on all our learning such as shape work, positional language, numeracy, problem solving rhythm and rhyme and jolly phonics.

Finally, we are constantly looking at improving our Early Years Provision, so if you do have any thoughts on “how we can do things better” please do drop us a note in the post box provided near the entrance!
