September newsletter

The Autumn Term has started! A warm welcome to everyone especially the new families who are joining us for the first time, all our new children have settled in really quickly.

Welcome to Helena McDermott who is starting her induction period with us, Helena is qualified to level 3 and will be working in Pre-school supporting children and staff three days per week, whilst studying for her Early Years Degree.

Becki our nursery teacher has returned from maternity leave (hooray!) and joined the management team along with Angela, Jo and Karina.

This term is always very busy, settling in and becoming familiar with new rooms and people, we will be concentrating on personal, social and emotional development initially to ensure all the children feel confident and secure. Our planning is displayed on the boards in the corridor along with information for parents, menu’s etc… please take a look.

Over the next few weeks, your child’s key person will be asking you to pop in for an informal chat about your child and to contribute to your child’s Learning Journey.

We are holding an open evening for new and existing parents on Wednesday 30th September 7.00- 8.30pm, you are invited to have a look around, play with resources, speak informally to our team, paint a picture?  There will be various displays for you to look at including Kelly’s Child Injury Protection information. You are welcome to ask any questions you wish regarding the nursery, payments, food etc. we will all be available.

Staffing is as follows:

Room 1:    Katie, Louise, Moira, Jane, Helena, Leeanne.

Room 2:    Kelly, Julie S, Denise, Ewa, Elena, Lorraine, Shannon

Early Years Managers: Angela and Karina – working over both rooms

Nursery Teacher : Becki Streets – working over both rooms

Jo Raven is our Admin Manager, Jo works every day except Wednesday, all queries regarding sessions, invoices, funding and voucher payments should be directed to Jo!

The weekends of 17th and 25th September we are having some work done to the floor in room 1, the contractor will be starting on the Friday afternoons, this will mean that we need to vacate the room after lunchtime. Moss Hey have very kindly offered us space in their hall if we require it, please can you collect your child from room 2 on afternoons of 17th and 25th September?

Please note due to parental requests, we are now open until 6.00pm.

We are happy to encourage your child to clean their teeth after lunch, please provide a toothbrush in a named case if this is something you would like your child to do.

This year we are due an Ofsted Inspection, we will have half a day’s notice.  The Inspector will want to speak to some of our parents, therefore I will be contacting a few parents the day before to see if they are able to spend a short time with the Inspector.

The Ofsted Inspection has changed for Early Years providers bringing it more into line with school inspections, the format of the inspection and the report has changed. There is also now an increased emphasis on promoting Fundamental British Values within the curriculum.  This means very little change to us as we as part of our Personal, Social and Emotional development cover these values every day. We will be creating a display in the corridor to illustrate how British values are part of our daily life.

Kelly our Child Injury Protection Champion has a display outside room 2 drawing attention to child safety in and outside the home. There is a ‘thought for the month’ displayed on the parents notice board to draw our attention to common childhood injuries and how we can prevent them.

If your child brings a packed lunch to nursery, please note that it needs to be placed in a plastic bag with your child’s name on it, we are unable to store rigid lunchboxes in our fridge.

Our policy booklet has been updated and will be on our website from the week beginning 21st September, a hard copy will be available in the nursery corridor, the document now covers, Prevent Duty, Babysitting and an update to our medicine policy.

If you have any bottle tops or Yakult / Actimel bottles please can you send them in?

If there is anything you are not sure about or you have any questions, please feel free to telephone or email.

I look forward to seeing you on 30th September.

Best wishes,

Julie
