Children’s Transitions

During the month of January, we have been supporting some of our children who have started settling sessions in their new rooms. We have also welcomed new families to Fledglings this year. All the children are settling well and are enjoying experiencing new and exciting opportunities.

We hope this will continue. You can view your child’s development at Fledglings on ‘Famly’ and can also contribute home observations if you wish to do so. As always, if you do have any questions please feel free to speak to a member of the Fledglings team and we will be more than happy to help you with your query.

Practitioner updates

Jenny

We have welcomed back Chelsea who has been on maternity leave. Jenny has really enjoyed her time with her little boy, Alfie and is now looking forward re-joining her Fledglings family again and has super ideas to implement!

Nursery Fee Increase

Due to the forthcoming government increases to take effect from April 2023, we will be increasing our daily fee at Fledglings. The new rate will be £69.75 per day and will come into effect from April this year. Please speak to a member of the management team should you have any questions regarding this information.

Nursery trips

In the upcoming months, we are hoping to provide opportunities for the children to take part in trips within the local community. We will contact you in advance to obtain permission and share risk assessments if required. At Fledglings, we are always looking out for new and exciting experiences for all the children to take part in. If you have visited an amazing local place recently, please let us know and we then can hopefully let everyone at Fledglings join in the fun too. We are continuing our visit to the local residential home in Bramhall which has been enjoyable for the children, team and the residents.

Room News

Nest:

In the Nest the children have really enjoyed Music Time, shaking instruments to the various different songs. We have also explored a variety of animals including, zoo, farm and jungle animals. The children have been brilliant at learning the different sounds the animals make and matching the sound to the correct animal. The Nest have particularly enjoyed mark making with the blocks making different pattens and using their hands to explore the varying textures.
Nest have loved explored a variety of fruit during sensory ‘treasure basket’ play such as pineapples, oranges, pears and apples. Together we discovered how the items feel and taste.

During outdoor play the Nest have been engaging in activities to support physical development and becoming more and more confident when climbing the steps to access the slide with little practitioner support.

Playschool:

Playschool have really enjoyed exploring a variety of sensory activities using gloop and foam play. The children have used different tools to explore the activities; enhancing their fine motor skills further.

The children have also demonstrated a keen interest in transport toys, cars and the train track and they have been using ramps and tunnels to explore this topic further. The children have particularly enjoyed our new insect ‘curiosity area’ with plants, insects, magnify glasses and books, encouraging conservation and taking a closer look to see what they can spot hiding in the plants.

Preschool:

Preschool have been extremely interested in creating models using a variety of construction toys. They have been using their imagination to create their own story plots during literacy time taking into consideration the models they have made.

Preschool recently decided to transform the role play into a restaurant and have worked closely with the practitioners to create the cosiest Fledglings restaurant in Bramhall…here you will find tasty sandwiches with spiders and ketchup and creepy crawly soup!

The children have also shown a keen interest in the letters and sounds of their names and having a go at forming some of the letters.

Focus Teaching Time with Mrs Bhav:

Mrs Bhav is ever so impressed with the children’s listening skills during focus group time. The children have established that they are brilliant at remembering new concepts learnt during teaching time and applying this knowledge to their everyday play. We are continuing with the jolly phonics sounds and songs and have introduced the topic of measurement which has been thoroughly enjoyable.

The homework projects, as always have been a pleasure to mark! Keep up the good work children and thank you to the parents for your continued support and interest.
